Life's most persistent and urgent question is, "What are you doing for others?"
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
There usually comes a time in a persons life, no matter what walk of life they lead, when financial crisis happens. Being fired from a job, divorce, disaster. Sometimes everyone needs a helping hand to get back up and continue their journey, but it's hard for someone to ask for help. The need for assistance is growing stronger in our nation, and we would like to give to the community as best we can. That's where MOTH was born – out of the necessity that we call compassion. I have seen many who need just that one lift up to get them going again. No matter the form of help we offer it is essential for the well being of our community. Food banks, blanket drives, clothing donations, counseling, and blood drives are the items that are commonly requested. You'll find food pantries and other welfare programs are struggling to meet demands of the homeless, disenfranchised, disaster victims and more. Taking care of Mother Earth and her children is a way of protecting our future. We wish to pitch in for the well being of all.
The Mission Of The Hearth (M.O.T.H.) exists to help fill in the gaps where they are found, to assist, support and empower low-income households, give aid to disaster victims, and the homeless. The first step towards this goal is the daunting task of finding out what is essential then meeting that need. We have taken the first portion and have listed what is currently needed within the Watertown/Brownville area for your discretion. The next step is for you, dear traveler through The Woods, to choose to make your first step in joining us in fulfilling our goals as we reach out to the community in support.
